From the Surge to the Grid: How Art Deco Inspired "The Meridian Line"

The open water is beautiful, but it is entirely chaotic.

When you swim in the wild—especially during the biting chill of autumn—there are no lane lines, no neat tile markers, and no boundaries. There is only the unpredictable rhythm of the current and the raw strength required to cut through it.

For our latest collection, we wanted to capture that exact strength. However, we wanted to move away from the gritty, weathered aesthetics of the past.

Instead, we turned to a time period defined by fierce, modern glamour, razor-sharp discipline, and unstoppable momentum: The Art Deco movement.

This is the story behind The Meridian Line.

Art Deco architecture and design are famous for bold geometric symmetry, sleek aerodynamic lines, and structured elegance. It represents human engineering and art imposing beautiful order onto the world.

As we watched open-water women swimmers conquering the wild elements, the contrast clicked.

The swimmer’s form is perfectly streamlined—a precise, elegant silhouette cutting through the untamed chaos of the sea. We realized that the open-water woman is the living embodiment of Art Deco. She brings structure to the surge.

To bring this vision to life, we threw out the distressed textures and uneven edges. Every piece of The Meridian Line is built on three premium design pillars:

We utilized high-contrast, elegant typography featuring geometric curves and sharp points. On our tees and heavyweights, you will find stylized graphic motifs—like repeating fan shapes and stepped geometric borders framing the silhouette of a diver.

Named after the global lines of longitude used to navigate wild oceans, the collection features clean, parallel lines running down the sleeves and across the chest. These lines don't just mimic navigation grids; they mimic the classic, repetitive patterns found in luxury Deco architecture.

To make this drop feel premium and seasonal, we bypassed standard athletic colors for a rich, luxurious palette:

A beautiful design means nothing if it cannot handle the reality of the sport. Open-water swimmers face a specific challenge: the freezing, biting wind the exact second you step out of the water.

Because of this, we printed this sleek artwork onto our heaviest, most structured apparel yet. These ultra-dense heavyweight hoodies are engineered like armour. They hold their clean, streamlined shape, completely locking out the wind and warming numb skin instantly with a plush, brushed fleece interior.
